My Trinity Stories

Our Trinity Story:

You have heard it said, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."  That catchy little phrase actually came to fruition in my family's case.  My husband, Kevin, and I moved to Aledo in 2000 for the beautiful open landscape, the lower taxes and the highly rated school system.  Sadly, the open landscape is disappearing and the lower taxes no longer show up on our statement.  But, the Aledo School District is still highly rated.

In 2003 our precious daughter, Lauren, was born.  I was very blessed to be able to stay at home during Lauren's early years.  From the beginning, Kevin and I envisioned my going back to work in the corporate world when Lauren started school, but thankfully God had other plans.

When Lauren reached age 2, I enrolled her in a Mother's Day Out program.  It was an easy drive from our house, we live just north of the railroad tracks and down the street from FBC Aledo.  And all I needed to do was turn Right onto 1187 to get to where I needed to go.  On one particular morning however, I sat at the intersection for several minutes, waiting for the car in front of me to turn LEFT onto 1187.  Anyone who knows our neighborhood and the curve on 1187 at the Sonic, knows you don't turn left there.  Attempting to turn left could actually be made into a contest for The Amazing Race, or possibly Wipeout.  As I had time to think (while the car waited for its opening), it dawned on me that all Aledo ISD schools (at that time) were south of the railroad tracks - I would have to be this poor person trying to get their kid to school in this traffic - for TWELVE YEARS.  I distinctly remember lightheartedly offering up the following prayer, "Lord, I would pay money to not have to turn left on this road to take Lauren to school!"

When Lauren turned 4 we debated the issue of another year of Mother's Day Out or look into a Pre-Kindergarten program.  There were many pros and cons to both, and we just weren't certain where the Lord was leading.  We continued to inquire about all the possibilities available to us.  We had several friends at church that sent their children to Trinity Christian Academy, and we knew they were extremely pleased with the school.  The deadline for enrollment was fast approaching, but our hearts were not at ease.

Then one morning as I was drying my hair and going over the different ideas, I paused and once again earnestly asked God for guidance.  My prayer was answered immediately.  God said, "Maybe Aledo isn't the school system I brought you here for."  Wow - you could have knocked me over with a feather.  When Kevin returned home from work I found out that God had given him the same answer.

We both felt God's leading us to Trinity Christian Academy, and we started filling out the paperwork.

Lauren began Pre-K at TCA in 2007, and God even provided me a job at Trinity her first year here.  It was such a blessing and a great way to get to know the true heart of the school.  We have been immeasurable blessed at Trinity.  Lauren is thriving in her education, and more importantly in her love for the Lord.  Being in the classroom is her delight, and she loves all of her teachers.  Kevin and I cherish the idea of having her in school where the Bible is not only taught, but also lived!  Another blessing from the Lord has been my opportunity to serve the school in the capacity of Academic Fair Coordinator and Academic Trip Planner.  Being able to work at my daughter's school has brought blessings beyond measure.

So, do be careful what you wish for...it just might come true!

Sincerely
The Lykins Family

This is our 2nd  year to be a part of the TCA family and we have been so blessed and encouraged by everyone here. The Lord put Dr. Barber and myself in the same Bible study group. One sweet day in late spring, I felt a nudge by the Spirit to tell Dr Barber that I was an art teacher. The rest is history! Here I am, and this has been an amazing place to watch our children grow and learn. We started the first  two years of school in public school and right away, after being at Trinity, we could tell the difference that THIS education was making on our children's lives. Their hearts are being taught. We are so thankful God has our family here.
